What is Act Two?
Act Two is a three-day immersive musical theater camp — for grown-ups. Whether you're a seasoned performer, a former theater kid, or someone who's always wanted to try the stage but never had the chance, you'll spend a weekend learning songs, choreography, and scenes alongside a full cast of fellow adults. It all builds toward a showcase performance for family and friends, followed by a celebration.
Who is Act Two for?
Adults of every age, background, and experience level - we welcome participants roughly ages 20 to 70. Some of our cast will be lifelong performers; others will be stepping on stage for the very first time. You don't need experience, just curiosity.
Do I need to audition?
Nope. No auditions, no pressure. Everyone who registers gets a place in the cast.
I haven't performed since high school (or ever). Will I be okay?
Yes. Act Two is built for exactly that. Our teaching artists specialize in creating safe, supportive spaces for non-trained performers, and the whole weekend is designed so you can sing, move, laugh, connect, and create - without feeling like you're being judged.
What does the weekend actually look like?
- Friday evening: Kickoff and first rehearsals
- Saturday: A full day of rehearsals, workshops, and theater games
- Sunday: Final rehearsals, followed by your showcase performance and a celebration
Where is camp held?
We are very fortunate to be partnering with Rosie’s House A Music Academy for Children. Rosie’s House has a large performance space, a rehearsal hall, a kitchen/lounge area, and several other proactive room and hang-out spaces. What will we be performing?
We have put together a musical theater medley featuring a few production numbers, ensemble scenes, and some small-group moments. So there's a role and a spotlight for every kind of performer.
Will I have to sing/dance/act solo?
There will be opportunities for small-group and featured moments if you want them, but the heart of Act Two is ensemble work. Nobody is required to carry a solo.
Can I bring my kids?
We love that you'd want to share this with them, but Act Two is an adults-only camp - no children, please. We don't carry insurance coverage for young children on-site, and we're not able to provide childcare during camp hours. They CAN however, come cheer you on at the final performance!
What if I just want to help backstage instead of performing?
We haven’t figured out these roles yet, but please shoot up an email if this sounds like you and we’ll talk!
Who are the teaching artists?
Our camp is led by three professional teaching artists, a Movement Coach, an Acting Coach, and a Voice Coach, with decades of combined experience in professional theater, education, and trauma-informed instruction. You'll also have support from our camp interns and administrative staff throughout the weekend.
Can family and friends come watch?
Family and friends are encouraged to attend our final showcase on Sunday at 3:00 pm. Bring your people!
How will we celebrate our achievement?
Yes! Right after the Sunday showcase, we celebrate together with a cast party at a local restaurant. Family and friends are invited but may have to pay a small fee (we’re still working out the details!)
What should I wear / bring?
Comfortable clothes you can move in, closed-toe shoes, lunch/dinner, a water bottle, and an open mind.
Do I need to learn music ahead of time?
We'll send music in advance so you can familiarize yourself with it if you'd like, but it's not required — we'll teach everything during camp too.
Will meals be provided?
Lunch and dinner are on your own — please plan to bring your own food. The facility has a microwave and fridge you're welcome to use, and there are places to order or pick up food nearby if you'd rather grab something during breaks.
What if I have to miss part of camp?
Life happens! Just like high school, though — if you miss a rehearsal, you're expected to learn what you missed on your own or sit out that part of the performance.
How much does it cost, and what's included?
Camp is $250 for the weekend, which includes rehearsals, instruction, materials, and your showcase performance. Meals are not included — see above for details on food during camp.
How do I register?
Select the registration button on the top of this page or on the home page— spots are limited to keep our ensemble close-knit, so we recommend signing up early.
What's your cancellation/refund policy?
Cancellations made 30 days or more before the first day of camp will be fully refunded. Cancellations made between 29 and 7 days before the first day of camp will be given a 50 percent refund. Cancellations made less than a week before the first day of camp will not be eligible for a refund.
